Mickey Goldmill retired from boxing in 1947 with an impressive record of 72-1. He later opened his own boxing gym in Philadelphia, PA. There, he trained many boxers, including Sylvester Stallone as "The Italian Stallion" Rocky Balboa. In 1976, Mickey trained Rocky for his bout with the reigning champion, Apollo Creed. Mickey told Rocky that he'd have the Italian Stallion eating lightning and crapping thunder. With Mickey's training, Rocky was able to go the distance with Apollo Creed. Rocky is widely considered one of the best sports movies of all time and one of the greatest movies in cinematic history.
