In the 1984 classic The Karate Kid, Daniel LaRusso was a new kid in Reseda, California who got into a feud with the students from the Cobra Kai dojo. Daniel called upon his maintenance man, Mr. Miyagi to teach him karate. Using the skills that he learned from Mr. Miyagi, Daniel was able to defeat the Cobra Kai's top student Johnny at the All-Valley Karate Tournament.
