Nobody can deny Titanfall was one of the biggest games of 2014. It was launched in March 2014 for Xbox and PC and the sequel was greenlit in the same month. It’s not really a wonder, since the game was one of the most anticipated games of the year, got over 60 awards on the 2013 E3 con, and a record breaking 6 critics awards.
Did the game deliver? The majority of gamers would say a definitive yes to that question. Would they like more or it? Absolutely yes! So here’s the real news.
Last week at the Technology, Internet & Media Conference 2015, Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen talked about the next Titanfall game. He said that he expects a Titanfall sequel, and it will not be exclusive to Xbox and PC.
“Last year it was on the Xbox only; in the future, we haven’t yet announced, but we’ll probably have another Titanfall game.
It will probably be a bigger footprint
than just a single platform. I think that’s a huge positive for us.”
That means that they’re most likely looking at the sales of PlayStation 4, which seems to be in the lead compared to Xbox and the other consoles, and they would like a piece of that pie. However, since it isn’t officially announced yet, that means that unfortunately, you shouldn’t expect it anytime soon. It will most likely take at least another year for us to even begin seeing anything really new about Titanfall 2.
Blake Jorgensen also talked about EA’s plan to release new shooters annually, with Battlefield Hardline and Star Wars: Battlefront covering the year 2015, and Battlefield 5 likely to appear in 2016. If we’re very very very lucky then that second spot in 2016 could be Titanfall 2.
