“That’s the wonderful thing with nerds: they’re enthusiasts. Not having a life means you get to love things with a passion and nobody bothers you about it.” – John Burnside.
We nerds and geeks have our own type of humor that others just don’t get. There’s all sorts of in-jokes floating around the nerd community, and there isn’t a geek alive that doesn’t love a good crossover or pun.
I’ll be the first to proudly admit I’m a nerd. I love all things scifi, fantasy, horror, gaming, film, and just plain offbeat trivia facts that no-one in their right mind would ever look up. I’m the first one to check out the newest development in virtual reality. I’m right there when the next episode of Game of Thrones airs (and you bet I’ve read the books!). I know the difference between a Gallifreyan and a Time Lord and how to spell ‘Raxicoricofallapatorius’. I love playing table-top games with my friends on Thursday nights, and reading up on Cthulu in my spare time. I know I’m not the only one.
I also really appreciate a ngood t-shirt that broadcasts our special brand of geeky humor to the world. These kinds of tees are the tees that help us find fellow nerds who understand our jokes. Sometimes those jokes take the form of a couple simple puns that are so terrible they’re fantastic,
or Gaming in-jokes only those who play hard will understand.
You know you’ve found a true friend when you’re wearing one of these crossover shirts and someone knows both sides of the story:
Let’s be real. Pokemon crosses over so well with pretty much everything.
Deadpool and The Lord of the Rings? Where do I sign up?
We need to petition for a mini-series of Mal and Han Solo taking on the Universe, STAT.
And while we’re on the subject of awesome scifi and brilliant crossovers, we’d be wasting our time if we didn’t show you these other legendary mash-ups:
Okay, but to be honest, I can’t decide whether or not the last one is an abomination, or freakishly awesome. I’ll let you decide.
But perhaps the true test of your expansive your nerd-knowledge is this tee:
It doesn’t get much more obscure than that!
Unless, of course, you can translate this:
Then, you might just be a level 100 nerd, off to fight legendary dragons and able to conquer the fiercest of foes, ready to find the rarest of loot. Just don’t take an arrow to the knee, or else your adventuring days might be over, and you’ll be stuck in some quiet little hamlet as a generic NPC.
