Harley Quinn was created back in 1992 by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm for the cartoon Batman: The Animated Series and even though it was originally only intended for a single episode, the character became really popular over night. She became so popular in fact that DC decided to bring her over into the mainstream DC universe. Her first comic book appearance was in ’99 in Batman: Harley Quinn #1.
